Foothills Communications works hard to provide you with excellent service without interruptions. But occasionally, weather and other problems may cause temporary interruptions in your telecommunications service.
The Federal Communications Commission and the Kentucky Public Service Commission have ordered the deregulation of inside wire and outlets. This means you can maintain your own wiring and outlets, or let Foothills Communications do it for you; this choice is yours. Telephone wiring and outlets are subject to damage from lightning, remodeling, chair snags, humidity, or simple exposure to wear and tear. Enroll in Foothills Inside Wire Maintenance Program and let us take care of your inside wiring problems. Most issues with your inside wiring and outlets will be covered in our program, with the exception of abuse and intentional damage.
If you prefer to maintain your own inside wiring and outlets, here are some options for getting your inside wiring issues corrected:
- Hire Foothills Communications to locate and repair the damages. We will be happy to make these repairs even if you’re not enrolled in our Inside Wire Maintenance Program. You will be billed for time spent to repair the damages plus cost of materials.
- Hire an independent contractor to locate and repair the damages.
- Locate and repair the damages yourself.
The potential cost of not enrolling in the Inside Wire Maintenance Program could be hundreds of dollars each time you need damages repaired. Why risk it? Sign up for our Inside Wire Maintenance Program today.
Your Responsibility if Not Enrolled in Our Inside Wire Maintenance Program
If you choose to maintain your own inside wiring and outlets, you are responsible for preliminary testing to determine whether the problem is with your equipment, your wiring or outlets, or with our facilities.
If you contact us to do this preliminary testing for you and we find the issue is with your equipment, your inside wiring or outlets, you could be billed for this visit. Additional charges will be incurred if we make repairs to your equipment, inside wiring, or outlets.
Don’t risk it! Contact us to find out about the benefits of enrolling in our Inside Wire Maintenance Program. Call us locally at 297-3501, 349-6111 or 673-3193.

Troubleshooting and Repair
If you are in need of immediate assistance, please call one of our local repair numbers:
297-0611, 349-0611, or 673-0611
Follow these simple tips to help troubleshoot your service issues:
If you cannot receive calls:
- Check the ringer on the telephone set (located either on the side or bottom of the phone) and make sure it’s turned on.
- Check to see if the line cord from the telephone set is plugged into the telephone set as well as the modular outlet.
- If you have another outlet, plug the telephone set into that outlet and make a test call there.
- If you have the Call Forwarding feature, check to see if it is activated. The Call Forwarding feature can be deactivated by dialing *73 (or 1173 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones).
- Certain Call Screening features will restrict calls from coming into your phone. Check the individual feature to see if it is activated, and deactivate it if necessary.
How To Check Your Phones
Modular phones are easy to check. Try these four steps first:
- Determine if the issue is with one phone or all phones. Unplug all phones and test separately.
- If the issue is with only one phone, test that phone on another outlet. If it still doesn’t work, most likely that phone is bad.
- If the phone works on a different outlet, go back to the outlet where the trouble started and test it with a different phone. If neither phone works, then there may be a problem with the wiring to that outlet.
- If none of the phones work after testing each phone and outlet separately, the problem may be with your wiring.
