ACCOUNTANT
Job Description:
As an Accountant you play a vital role in the Accounting Department by being responsible for daily accounting activities, ensuring proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Supports all aspects of general ledger accounting including analysis and reconciliations of both balance sheet and income statement accounts. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work efficiently, and a dedication to upholding financial integrity. Your contributions will directly impact the financial health of the company, making your role essential to our success. This position requires an exception degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Duties may include but not be limited to:
- Performs all tasks associated with the general ledger; including but not limited to, entering monthly journal entries, executing monthly closing of general ledger, inventory reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and reconciling general ledger related accounts.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and analyze budget variances
- Develop and maintain asset recordkeeping in accordance with accounting rules and regulations.
- Preparation of Sales & Use, Telecommunications and Utility Gross Receipts License Tax.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor financial transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Reconcile customer billing from billing software to revenues in accounting software.
- Works directly with all departments as needed.
- Works closely with the company’s CPA firm and consulting firms on necessary projections, certifications, etc.
- Assist with proper recording and interpretation of intercompany accounting activities.
- Compile and prepare reports/schedules related to internal and external audits as required.
- Assist in the preparation of all budgets and forecasts, including related reports and special analysis.
- Maintain Work Orders.
- Work closely with other accounting team members for combined reporting and general ledger maintenance activities.
- Perform other ad-hoc projects and reporting as assigned by Management.
- Must complete the RUS Borrowers Accounting Course within the first year.
Experience and Qualifications:
Successful candidate will meet or exceed performance standards & perform all duties necessary to assist in the overall business operations ensuring the best possible service is provided to coworkers and members.
Accountant must:
- Work well within a group, prioritizing the team’s goals over their own.
- Must collaborate, communicate, and be supportive in the team environment.
- Must be reliable, willing to adapt to change, share knowledge, ask questions, handle challenges and act with integrity and respect.
- Must be familiar in computer operations including Microsoft Office 365/Excel.
- Ability to communicate with customers, employees and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.
- Must have exceptional accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of telecommunications technology, products, and services.
- Knowledge of sales/use tax laws
- Knowledge of state and federal financial reporting laws and regulations.
- Skill in using accounting, billing, and customer software.
- Must be able to juggle multiple projects and recurring tasks while meeting all deadlines.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
Compensation:
- $39,000 – $49,400 per year based on experience.
